A wealth of experience

Private sector.

Comprehensive legal solutions for businesses and individuals.

As a solicitor in the private sector, I represent listed and unlisted corporations, councils, universities, high-net-worth individuals, and families. My areas of expertise cover the following fields:

I am also involved in assisting regulatory and ethical compliance by bodies such as the Private Health Insurers Intermediaries Association Inc. This body monitors and enforces compliance by member intermediaries with the Association’s Code of Conduct. Since 2015, I have served as the Chair of its Code of Conduct Committee.

Additionally, for many years, I served as the Independent Chair of the Code Monitoring Committee of the Medical Technology Association of Australia. This association represents manufacturers and suppliers of medical technology in Australia, and the committee I chaired monitored and enforced compliance with the best practice standards in MTAA’s self-regulatory Code.

Public and not-for profit sector.

Expert legal services for Government and Not-for-Profit organisations

I am an experienced solicitor with a long-standing reputation for serving public sector clients in the health industry. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of representing NSW Health, most of NSW’s Local Health Districts and their predecessors, ACT Health, Melbourne Health, Western Health, and various Affiliated Health Organisations and other governmental and semi-governmental bodies.

I am proud to have been the legal adviser to South East Health and its predecessors since the early 1970s, guiding them through their regulatory changes and redevelopments. I served as the legal representative on their Human Research and Ethics Committee for 17 years, including as Deputy Chair for a number of years and as Chair on occasions.

For 6 years, I was an Elected Councillor of HCF, tasked with ensuring that 'accepted governance standards are properly implemented and maintained, and that the organization is professionally governed and managed.'

I set up and sit on the boards of charities, foundations, and trusts, advising them on their operations. Much of the work that I do in my areas of practice listed below I also do for my government and not-for-profit clients:

Examples include:

  • PPPs for the construction and operation of hospitals, car parks, and other facilities on government land

  • Tenders for the supply of goods and services

  • Leases, licenses, and cooperation agreements

  • Funding agreements

  • Incorporating charities and foundations such as NeuRA, the Royal Hospital for Women Foundation, and the University of New South Wales Foundation.
